WHAT AM I ?
There must have been some, rare perhaps, moments in your life when you felt that some deeper, most intimate part of you was observing your thoughts, perceptions or emotions. You may have noticed it when all by yourself, totally relaxed, perhaps in nature, walking in a forest, swimming, diving, fishing, watching the sunrise, the sunset or looking up at the stars. It may have occurred whilst you were extremely happy or desperately sad. Or perhaps at a time when you had utterly surrendered to love. It may have surfaced whilst facing danger, risking your life or confronted with a most serious situation.
To some it appears as out of nowhere inspiration at times of deep, pinpoint concentration and the intense will to create or serve, free of any attachment.
I would like to clarify that i am not referring to any kind of internal dialogue. That is the conversation our mind is having with itself. Our core on the other hand is silent, non involved, immovable, rooted, unshakable, a background witness of our thoughts, perceptions and feelings, of all. Despite being in the background, our core remains our most intimate, deepest connection, our very self, our foundation in those rare moments of awareness. That which lies beneath thought and feeling. You may think of it as awareness or the part of you experiencing life. Without it, nothing would register. No feeling, no thought, nothing. We tend to take it for granted as it is so intimate. It is in fact our very core. Our nature appears or surfaces when we turn our mind inwards.
